Today is the 84th Birthday of Tippy Hedren. As a tribute I decided to give mention to her influence in vintage style in today’s Vintage Fashion Icons post.

Back in summer 2012 I attended the Somerset House showing of Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds (1963), my first visit to the open air cinema. The show was of course brilliant and I love the Hollywood/1940s style searchlights intro to the trailers. Best of all, the whole crowd was audibly thrilled with the surprise arrival of starlet 'Tippi' Hedren prior the the show.

In terms if style, 'Tippi' Hedren (born Nathalie Kay Hedren) is best known for the look in her breakthrough film The Birds, a look I recognized years before I ever saw the film. She wears the same outfit for much of the film; a snappy green boxy dress suit from the 1960s with an a golden blonde 'up do'.
