C.1950s Calf Length Black Flared Petticoat

Flared nylon & net black petticoat circa 1950s. This vintage petticoat fits snuggly to the hips and flares out in a circle from the top of the legs to the lower calf. Eight inches at the hem are covered with a layer of net with a fitted seam. Three darts and a band of black elastic fit the skirt to the waist. The stiff woven sythetic and very wide hem creates volume for underneath a dress. Fastens at the side with a vintage Lightning zip.

Care Instructions: Cool handwash recommended.

Composition: Nylon (unconfirmed, no tags).

Condition: Good condition; there is evidence that at some time it has been altered to fit a larger waist leaving stitch marks from let out darts and a small piece of make-do elasatic inside added to the end of the original elastic, but then old style make-do-and-mend is all part of the charm! There are approximatly ten tiny burn marks under the netting near the hem, the largest is 5mm.

All vintage nightwear and lingerie has been intensively washed and ironed before being added to the site.
