C.1940s Embroidered Boned Strapless Bra

White 1940s boned strapless bra designed to create support and shaping for underneath a 1940s off-the-shoulder summer or evening dress. The cups are each made of a single panel darted from the centre to the bottom of the bust and each cup is boned each side to help create the desired pointed silhouette of the 1940s (suspect plastic boning). In bygone times ladies used to sew half of a press-stud into the centre of their bra cups to create the illusion of an ever-pert nipple, in this bra there is a hand-sewn stud at the tip of each dart. The two centre panels are embroidered with a delicate floral pattern and the top is decorated with a mesh picot stitch edge. Constructed of semi-sheer nylon panels and fastening at the back with a band of elastic and two rows of hook and eyes.

Care Instructions: Lukewarm hand wash with other whites recommended.

Composition: Nylon.

Condition: Excellent condition; one 1mm x 2mm mark on right cup, inside binding frayed in places. All vintage nightwear and lingerie has been intensively washed and ironed before being added to the site.
